October 2014

October began with the Guads on a US trip. We started in Texas, the next stop was Arizona to spend time with Nick's dad, and then while Nick continued on back home Heather, had a third stop in Colorado.

We had two birthdays to celebrate in Texas. Nick's birthday and his mom's birthday. In addition to the parties, we enjoyed some low key family time.

After Texas, Nick, Heather and several of the family members went to Arizona to see Nick's dad, Bob, while he was undergoing chemotherapy. Although the circumstances for going to Arizona were hard and there were several ups and downs, we enjoyed our time together. We had the opportunity to spend a lot of quality time with Bob, including making him a homemade gravy!

We also spent a day lounging in the pool with Dad and the brothers (Rob and Jer), sister-in-law (Cindy), nieces (Stephanie and Mia), and nephew (Victor).

After our trip to Arizona, Nick and Heather parted ways for a few days. Nick returned to Denmark and work, while Heather made one more stop. Heather's main purpose for going back to Colorado was to help her parents pack up their house after her mom broke her hip over the summer. After 20+ years in the same house, there was A LOT of stuff to go through! Heather did get a bit of time off from packing to enjoy some friends and take in some culture though.

Near the end of October, after almost a month away from home, Heather was ready to get back to Denmark and to Nick and Bella. Nick met Heather at the airport and we spent the day in Copenhagen together, exploring Nyhavn.
